For those of you who haven’t heard yet, Google has just decided to publish all of their keyword search volume data within their keyword research tool. This is a big deal. Now you don’t have to look at a little graph bar and guess what kind of traffic a keyword might bring you.

You can use this new information to do better research for keywords, before starting a new blog or website. Also, you can use this to decide on important keywords to use when writing articles.

I’ve found the best way to use Google’s keyword tool, is to research as many keywords as I can think up for my niche, so that I get lots of long tail results. Then using the results I get, I write down keywords that I’m thinking about using and their average volume. Once I have that, I Google the keywords with quotes around them to see how many sites may rank for that keyword. You’ll find that by using both of these pieces of data you’ll be able to make better decisions when making your keyword list.

You should be very excited, I know I am. This is a great tool, and you’ll begin to see the value in this information the minute you start using it. If you haven’t checked it out yet then click here.

There are many ways you can go about bringing traffic to your blog or website, such as SEO, links, advertising, article submissions, StumbleUpon, Digg and writing in forums, to name a few. However, there is only one way that allows you to bring in traffic consistently. That’s by adding more content to your website or blog.

Traffic from StumbleUpon, Digg and all the others are just fly-by-night, as far as I’m concerned. Yeah, it’s a nice ego boost to see your traffic skyrocket for a day or two, but it doesn’t bring good, targeted traffic to your site. You’d be better off having Google send you five to ten new visitors a week from a long tail keyword, than have StumbleUpon bring you two thousand visitors that are just passing through. Why? Because the visitors you’ll get from a long tail keyword are more inclined to:

  • Click on your ads
  • Subscribe to your RSS feed
  • Take a closer look at your product
  • Opt-in for your newsletter
  • Share your site with others
  • Bookmark your site
  • Link back to a page on your site
  • Buy your product
  • Become a return visitor or customer

So how do you get these great visitors?

Just keep producing good content the search engines do the rest. Yes, it’s that simple. Think of every new page you create as an investment in internet real estate. The more content you have, the greater the chance the search engines will send you more targeted traffic from long tail keywords. And, you continue to receive this traffic as long as you rank for the search term.

If you already have a blog or website, you might have already noticed that you get hits for great long tail keywords, you didn’t even know existed. This is the greatest benefit of all.

Also, it’s cheap to add new, relevant content to your website or blog. You do have to pay for web hosting and possibly someone to help you produce great content, if you can’t do it yourself. But, it’s still a really cheap and effective way to get more traffic.

So, publish something new on your site or blog everyday, just so you can get this great traffic from long tail keywords.

If you are new to Contextual Advertising (Text Ads) on the web, then you should read this. I’m going to share with you who the text advertisers are, how much they pay, and how to make a passive income with a blog by getting massive amounts of targeted traffic.

Some of the biggest text advertisers on the internet are Adbrite, Bidvertiser, Yahoo, and of course Google Adsense.

Most people choose Google Adsense over the others. They started text advertising, have been around the longest, are easier to use, are the most trusted, pay on time, and pay out more. So why use anyone else?

In order to make money with text advertising, you place the text ads on your website or blog, and the text advertisers pay you when someone clicks on their ad. The amount they pay could be anywhere from $.01 to $10. It doesn’t seem like much, but once you get targeted traffic to your site or blog, you’ll find that it adds up quickly.

Targeted traffic is the traffic that comes to your site as a result of a keyword search. This means that the people who find your site were actually looking for the information that you are offering. These people are more likely to click on the relevant ad links within your site, because they are on a quest for that type information.

To get started just follow these simple steps:

  • First, do some keyword research at Wordtracker. Find at least 20 to 30 keywords that your new blog can rank for on Google.
  • Choose a domain name with your best keywords. It should be several words long. Try to choose something that people will type directly in to the search engine. For example How-to-make-money-online.com, instead of something catchy like webmoney4u.com, which no one will ever type in.
  • Start your blog by purchasing your own domain, getting hosting and setting up Wordpress on your blog. Don’t use free blog hosting such as Wordpress.com or Blogger. Most will not allow you to monetize your blog.
  • Find a free, ad-ready blog template. Try here.
  • Write at least 5 separate pages of great content, that is full of the good keywords you found.
  • Then, set all of your content up to be viewed as 5 different pages on your blog, instead of catagories or posts written all on the same page. The key here is to make it look more like a website than a blog.
  • Go to Google Adsense or another advertiser and open an account.
  • Grab the code and place your text ads inside your blog. Most free templates will tell you how to do this in the “read me” file.

Once you are set up, it’s time to make some money. Now all you need is some traffic. I warn you. This process is a little harder and it takes some time and patience to get rolling. However, if you did some good keyword research, these few ideas I’m going to share with you, should help you get ranked with the search engines quickly. Once you are ranked, you’ll have large amounts of free, organic, targeted traffic on it’s way.

Here are a few ideas to help drive free traffic to your blog:

You can just keep submitting rehashed material to these sites to continually drive people to your blog, while never changing that original content on those five pages you set up.

The last step to making a killing with Adsense, is to repeat this process, by starting a new blog everytime you get one up and running. This can really compound your earnings. Look, if you made $1 a day, per blog, with Google Adsense, that’s $365 a year, right? What about $5 a day? That turns out to be $1825 a year, for just one blog! Now, if you had just 20 blogs, that would be $36,500 a year. No, you won’t set the world on fire. But, that’s a great passive online income, just from text advertising. Yes, you could make more and you could make less. It will take some work on your part.

Keep learning and working at it and you could be making a good, online, passive income within a few months!
